Pregnancy service helping Taranaki

Pregnancy Help Taranaki continues to make a positive difference to the community

Stratford-based Pregnancy Help Taranaki continues to provide an invaluable service to a segment of the community most in need.

The organisation offers a variety of services ranging from clothing and equipment through to antenatal classes. It is often a first-port of call at its drop in centre in Stratford. The centre, thanks to an annual grant from the Taranaki Electricity Trust, is able to operate

"We are always incredibly grateful to the Taranaki Electricity Trust (TET) for their generous and ongoing support in helping cover essential operational costs such as salaries, rent, and utilities," Branch co-ordinator Mindy Mockett said. "This funding plays a vital role in keeping our doors open and enables us to continue offering free, practical support to whānau across Taranaki."

In the past 12 months, the entity have supported 902 whānau. It distributed over 30,000 clothing items in 820 packs, and 226 clients received baby equipment. For the first time, Māori were our largest user group (397), followed closely by NZ European (340), with the remainder made up of Pacific Island, Asian, British, South African, Middle Eastern, and Australian families.

"Thank you, TET, for believing in the work we do and for standing alongside us in supporting our Taranaki community."
