Scholarships continue to help students

Nicola Stanton, one of 23 Tertiary scholarship recipients, is enjoying her start at Waikato University.

Annually the Taranaki Electricity Trust awards scholarships to school leavers moving on to Tertiary studies. In late 2022, 23 residents in the TET area were awarded these grants, with Waitara's Nicola Stanton one of the beneficiaries.

Nicola is at Waikato University where she is undertaking a Bachelor of Health majoring in Biomedical Sciences.

"The TET scholarship has been a huge help to my studies at Waikato University," Nicola said. "The scholarship has helped me purchase a laptop, and cover accommodation payments. The scholarship has reduced some financial pressures allowing me to focus on academic and extracurricular achievements, rather than having to work regularly to make up funds."

"The scholarship has helped me to live safely and comfortably at University with less financial stress, making my transition from leaving high school and home to University much easier and enjoyable. I am proud to represent TET and Taranaki students and am determined to achieve to the highest of my potential."

Details on the 2023 scholarships are expected to be released in August 2023.
