New kitchen for Uruti

Official opening draws the people together to celebrate community asset

A combined community effort and a grant from the Taranaki Electricity Trust has enabled a new kitchen to be installed in the nearly-40-year-old Uruti Community Centre. And the locals, who worked together tirelessly over the previous eight months to bring the project to fruition, celebrated in style just prior to Christmas.

"It was the ideal time to connect with neighbours, friends, and those that made this venture possible," Steph Richardson said. The event was a celebration of the vision that was brought to life by everyone, Richardson said.

"This was only made possible by the incredible support of TET and others," Richardson noted.
