Avon School swings ahead
A new playground at Avon is being well received by students
A combination of a grant from the Taranaki Electricity Trust and volunteers has enabled the Avon Primary School to open a new playground, complete with swings and physically challenging equipment.
The new playground followed a consultation period where the school ask its stakeholders what was needed to enhance the institute. The response was resounding - a new playground.
After three initial designs were reviewed, the choosen one was selected and erected. "We'd like to acknowledge two local whānau, the McNamara and Poni-Whakamarurangi whānau that spent hours making the framing and getting the site ready for the bark. Our ākonga helped in moving this and we opened the playground with a formal blessing from Hemi Haddon on the 24th June," principal Lisa Hill said.
